The federal government offers a tax credit for EV charger hardware, and EV charger installation costs. The tax credit covers 30% of the costs, with a maximum of $1,000 credit for residential installations and a maximum of $30,000 credit for commercial installations. You can also claim the tax credit for installations completed as far back as 2017. https://afdc.energy.gov/laws/10513
Customers need to submit IRS Form 8911, which is available on the IRS Forms and Publications website. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8911.pdf
States & utility providers have grant programs in place to offset up to 100% of EV Charger installations. Each State and utility provider have different requirements, and different rebate amounts. In addition, the program rebates for residential installations are not the same as commercial installations.
